Montalto delle Marche
The farm holiday Il Sentiero is located in the town of Montalto delle Marche, home country of the great Renaissance Pontiff Sisto V and the Architect Giuseppe Sacconi, author of the Altare della Patria in Rome.
Montalto,on a height of 512 meters upon the sea, towers above the river Aso and the Tesino. Its foundation goes up again to the IV century, but only in the 1585 Pope Sisto V has raised it to the rank of city.
The centrality of Montalto in the Piceno, at half way beetween the artistic cities of Ascoli Piceno (30 Kms) and Fermo (28 Kms) and between the Sibillini (National Park,32 Km) and the Adriatic (25 Kms), allows to fully enjoy history, traditions, art, landscapes, beach and an unbelievable variety of festivals and endogastronomic offers.
The romanesque – neoclassic styled "Santa Maria Assunta" chatedral, planned by Domenico Fontana, raises above the town center. Opposite to it, the former-seminar, center of the Museum Sistino Vescovile. Other than this, Montalto offers four other museums (Pinacoteca Civica, Archaeological Museum, Museum of the Jails, Museum Etnografic), and also a rich Historical File with attached Library. The town is also called "City of a thousand lindens", where long refreshing walks can be taken.
Also the villages of Porchia and Patrignone, ancient castles that participate in the Quintana of Ascoli, offer foreshortenings of undoubtful historical-architectural interest.
The greatest summer attraction consists in the phantasmagoric Night of the Witches and the Goblins that every year attracts thousand of visitors.
